The Society is an elected body and purpose to bring together  academics, researchers, engineers and industrialists involved in biohydrometallurgy from around the world, which is responsible for matters such as disseminating information to the biohydrometallurgy community, deciding on the venue and date of International Biohydrometallurgy Symposium, establishing Commissions in areas of interest to the global biohydrometallurgy community, making awards to distinguished mineral bioprocessors, etc.
